The Fruit Tree Program

The Fruit Tree Project began in 2019.

This is the year for you to get involved!

Through the registration of local fruit trees, and volunteer harvesters, the Fruit Tree Program provides an opportunity for our community to come together and share in the region’s abundant harvest!

The program facilitates access to nutritious local food for individuals and agencies, and promotes peaceful cohabitation with wildlife by gleaning trees that would otherwise go unpicked.

Volunteers and Tree Owners are each entitled to 1/3 of the harvest, while the remaining 1/3 is distributed to families through collaboration with the Sooke Food Bank and other community resources.

We are seeking to fill the following Paid Contract Positions:

  • Program Coordinator

Also the following volunteer positions:

  • Lead Hand

  • Pickers

  • Delivery drivers

Volunteers are entitled to a share of the produce picked.

If you wish to join us for picking, and bring home some local bounty, please fill out our Volunteer Registration Form.  We will be in touch for orientation/training.

We also need fruit tree owners to step forward and help feed our community. If you would like to register your fruit trees in our program, please fill out our Registration Form, and check the box for fruit tree owner.  We will follow up with you to assess your trees.
