discusses Sooke Food Chi's
history and support

Most of the work done to further the objects of Food CHI is accomplished by
volunteers, members and Directors of The Sooke Region Food CHI Society.

Up through 2009, the Community Food Action Initiative of VIHA provided funding.

The VIHA grant for the remainder of 2009 up to March 2010 helped coordinate
the development of allotment gardens, a gleaning program and a farm mentorship
program.

The District of Sooke and Juan de Fuca are funding a large greenhouse for a

horticulture program at EMCS. 2009/10 was the start up year for students
and community volunteers to grow greens and veggies all year around for the
Culinary Arts Program.

Sooke Food CHI will be seeking other sources of funding throughout the next
couple of years to help support production of more local food and access to good
local food.

FarmFolkCityFolk are the first funders to step up to help with the

farm mentorship program begin in Fall, 2009.
