Farmer Mentorship The Sooke Region Farmer Mentorship (SRFM) program offers training, networking, and partnership opportunities through farm tours, one-on-one mentorship, sharing of resources and connecting community members. Drawing on regional knowledge, expertise and success of local farms we work to encourage new growers in the region. See Sooke News Mirror article Down to earth and loving it In having a program that "grows" more farmers, our goals are to increase the number and diversity of sustainable farms in the region inspire others to grow enhance our dynamic local markets The success of our pilot year means we’re moving into year two and we’d like you to be part of it! Be a Protege Are you an aspiring grower? Regardless of experience and land base if you’d like to get growing in the next year or two come and learn with us Be a Mentor Are you an established grower? If you’ve got something to teach, and have the desire to work along-side an energetic learner we’d love to have you as a mentor. Orientation and resources will be offered. How Does it Work? Apply Receive the detailed info to sign off on Connect with the group for monthly tours Explore your protege/mentor match; placement dates and terms are flexible but you can expect a visit from your farmer, phone and email meetings and sharing of resources Costs Protege pay on a sliding scale of $200-500 fee includes: Facilitation of mentoring relationship, and program support for 4-6 month term of program Monthly farm tours from November to April Educational materials and resources Interested?
